Kumbh Vivah, with its own personality and practise, may prove to be an effective treatment for alleviating the negative effects of Mangala Dosha. It literally means “wedding with the pot” and refers to the ‘wedding’ of ‘Mangalika,’ that is, the bride or groom suffering from Mangala Dosha, with an earthen pot. This’marriage’ includes all of the usual ceremonies, Mantra chanting, and other traditional traditions, in which the individual is ceremonially wedded to Kumbh, the pot. Later, the ‘Mangalika’ will change her clothes, remove the Sutras, the threads knotted during the ritual, and throw the pot into a river or body of water. It is claimed that the Kumbh Vivah can cleanse the afflicted individual of the affects of the Mangalika Dosha, allowing him or her to recover. Following that, he or she might marry the person of his or her choosing in a conventional marriage, free of the malady.
